Native of the Mediterranean area. A hardy perennial herb that reaches about 1 meter (3 feet) in height. Characteristic lance-shaped leaves with pink or lilac-colored flowers.

ODOR/AROMA: A medium-strength mid note. Characteristic scent of mint with a sweet aroma. Less pungent and sweeter than the strong mint aroma of peppermint (Mentha piperita)

COMMON USES: Ancient Greeks used Spearmint to scent their bath water. It is a common flavouring agent in foods (although Essential Depot only sells for external use) and scent in toiletries.
CAUTIONS: For external use only. May cause skin irritation in some individuals. A skin test is recommended prior to use, dilute prior to use. Contact with eyes should be avoided.
